Providing dogs are kept under control and are cleaned up after
there are no restrictions on dogs in Heacham.
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR ADVICE REGARDING HUNSTANTON AND DOGS.

Essentially, your dog is welcome in Hunstanton if you keep it under control and clean up after it.  However, much of Hunstanton is deemed a dog control area ("clean up" area) at all times and penalties up to £1,000 are enforced.

Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Enviornment Act 2005 dog owners must clean up after their dogs in the following areas:

1. Any 40 mile per hour (or less) highway maintained at public expense.
2. The footways of such highways.
3. Footpaths.
4. Grass verges adjacent to such highways, footways/paths & cycle tracks.

Dog owners are not allowed to take their dogs to:

1. Children's Playgrounds in Hunstanton
Including The Recreation Ground, Sea Lane, Cliff Esplanade Gardens

2. The Beach

Effective 1 February 2008 dogs are not permitted on the beach at any time from the power boat ramp, to the northern extremity of the promenade.

Sites where dogs are required to remain on leads at all times:

1. Esplanade Gardens
2. The Top and Lower Greens (either side of Cliff Parade)
3. The Top and Lower Spinneys (Westgate)
4. The Hunstanton Promenade to the Heacham boundary - "The Hump".
Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 dog owners will also be required to remove dog faeces deposited by their dogs wherever they are in Hunstanton.
