Hunstanton's oldest building enjoys one of the best sea-facing
views along Norfolk's Sunset Coastline and brings a touch of heritage to the town.
Opened in 1846, The Golden
Lion was originally named "The New Inn" and stood
in the middle of nowhere, with no other buildings between the
lighthouse and Heacham other than the ruined chapel on the cliffs.
Because of this, critics nicknamed the hotel "Le Strange's Folly"
before it became apparent that the hotel was the start of a new
town - a town dedicated to seaside holidays no less!
Today The Golden Lion offers 27 newly
refurbished en-suite rooms with the majority of them being blessed
with a sea view over The Wash. The tasteful decor found
throughout the hotel complements the character of the architecture
and is to the very highest standards whilst incorporating a modern
style and feel. A relaxing and enjoyable stay at The Golden
Lion is ensured with its first-class, modern facilities in a
luxurious setting, together with an unrivalled service from the friendly, efficient team of staff. The general ambience of the hotel
is also reflected in the two comfortable bars. |
