Based on an extract from Go Birding Magazine by Mark Ward

Parking
Next to Burnham Overy Staithe Harbour (grid ref: TF 843 443; ample parking) or by the A149 at the top of the road to Burnham Thorpe, half a mile to the East (room for about eight cars).

Wells is pretty famous as a popular tourist resort on the north Norfolk coast.  However, it is less well known as a birdwatchers attraction.  The strip of woodland inland of the beach, which attracts migrants in the autumn is where it all happens.

In addition to woodland birds, you can enjoy a good variety of Raptors, Geese, Waders, Wildfowl and Owls here at Wells.  You can also enjoy a walk along the seawall into the town, perhaps stopping to enjoy fish and chips by the sea along the way before heading back to the beach.  Stop and sit on the benches which command a view over the harbour and you may find it brings it rewards.

The harbour itself attracts a good selection of Waders and Gulls and the open landscape may also allow you to observe some Raptors.
