Several birds seen regularly around reserve and roosting in reedbed

Single bird seen flying regularly over reedbed from fen hide

Pink-footed goose

Large groups starting to arrive back for the winter

Dark bellied brent goose

Small numbers seen on beach and flying over reserve

Eider

Small numbers seen regularly offshore, 8 birds seen on 21/10/09

Marsh Harrier

Several birds seen regularly around reserve. 8 females roosted 16/10/09

Hen Harrier

Up to four birds present, 3 ringtails roosted in reedbed on 19/10/09

Bar tailed godwit

1300 birds roosting on fresh marsh 19/10/09

Water rail

Single bird heard by tidal pool

Little stint

1 with dunlin flock on fresh marsh

Up to 5 birds around the reserve

Single bird seen on fresh marsh on 16/10/09 and 17/10/09

4 males calling along west bank path.

Large numbers roosting on reserve although numbers greatly reduced. 20,000 still present on 16/10/09 roosting in reedbed.

Brambling

8 birds seen in car park 15/10/09

Snow bunting

25-30 birds present on reserve. The flock is very mobile commuting between the fresh marsh and beach.

Up to 100 birds seen offshore (10/10/09), small groups seen regularly

Up to 6 birds seen offshore (13/10/09)

Up to 2 - 4 birds seen occasionally offshore
